Malik “Chef Leek” Stowe was born into a world of music on July 21, 1993, in Winston-Salem, NC. It’s said that his mother could hear Malik humming tunes before he even arrived. Growing up with a father that was an Atlantic Records executive and radio talent, it’s no surprise that Malik’s journey with music began early. His parents shared a passion for music, faith, and creativity that led them to write and co-produce a gospel album in the basement of their home. They performed across North Carolina, opening for top acts like gospel legend Kurt Carr before dedicating themselves fully to family life.
Starting piano lessons around the age of 7, Malik quickly found himself immersed in performance, singing in his church youth choir at Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, pastored by his grandfather. He began taking on his first professional gigs after moving to Charlotte by age 14. His father’s influence as Program Director for two of Charlotte's leading radio stations gave Malik access to many opportunities within the Charlotte music scene, allowing him to regularly share the stage with some of the area’s finest talent. By high school, Malik was releasing singles as “StoweChild” and even wrote and performed his class song, This Is My Day, before a crowd of thousands at his graduation. Throughout college and beyond, Malik has honed his craft, performing professionally at events nationwide.
Over seven years ago, inspired by the documentary What The Health, Malik embarked on a 30-day vegan challenge with his close family and friends. That initial challenge turned into a lifestyle he embraced for over three years, during which he refined his culinary skills and created an array of flavorful plant-based soul food recipes. While Malik has since reintroduced dairy into his diet, his passion for experimenting in the kitchen remains stronger than ever. Today, he is dedicated to sharing his love for wholesome, healthy alternatives and continues to inspire his community with his creative approach to plant-based and vegetarian comfort cuisine. His extensive experience and versatility make him the ideal choice for clients who want a polished, passionate, and highly skilled musician who knows how to elevate any event.
Malik is not only the owner of CL Entertainment, but he serves as the Minister of Music at Goler Memorial AME Zion Church in Winston-Salem and is a member of the R&B fusion band, M’Soul. Whether for weddings, corporate gatherings, or special events, Malik’s exceptional musicianship and depth of experience ensure every occasion is unforgettable. His music is more than just sound; it’s a crafted experience that resonates, engages, and leaves a lasting impression.
